You may not have known her name or her incredible journey. But let me introduce Sloane Stephens the 2017 U.S. Open Champion. At 24 years old, an American tennis player defeated Madison Keys (American) 6-3, 6-0 for the championship win on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Tennis is a sport that I truly enjoy watching. First introduced to tennis as a young girl was seen Chanda Rubin (an icon in the sport), the William sisters (both who have made #blackgirlmagic look attainable) and now the very inspiring Stephens. The story of determination is told as Stephens was unable to play in the last year U.S. Open due to a foot injury. A year later and unseeded, Stephens made her first appearance in July at Wimbledon.

'Impossible' is the word described by many. Yet, she keeps proving critics wrong. On Saturday, #blackgirlmagic became an anthem once again, defeating the No. 15 seeded Madison Keys (the first major match for both ladies). Stephens and Keys have been friends since the early start of their careers. Lets not forget, Madison Keys skills were just as epic in the final game. Her stats and title wins speak for themselves. My glass of wine and yelling at the television... made me feel like I was cheering my best-friend to victory.

I wanted to share this story not for just (black women) but women in general. This is what we fight so hard for, young girls to see someone like 'THEM' achieve greatness. I hope that you share this story and images with your children and remind them to have limitless dreams. Plus, it's never to late no matter age, to always put yourself in a position to WIN.

Congratulations, to both ladies who have made us believe in dreams again!
